Welcome to this quick review and test ride of the Das-Kit Bafang 250w rear hub motor electric bike conversion kit.
This electric bike kit is excellent value for money, if you are looking for a cheap way to convert your conventional bicycle to an ebike.

The Das-Kit 250w e-bike conversion kit is aimed at the European market and it conforms to current UK and EU electric bike laws - 250w continuous power with a top assisted speed limited to 25km/h.
It uses the proven Bafang geared 250w hub motor that uses planetary gears, which allow the motor to spin at high speeds, making it a lot more efficient than a larger direct drive motor.
Small geared hub motors produce more torque, making them good for climbing hills. They are also easy to pedal with the power switched off, making them much more suitable for someone who only needs the power on hills.
There are only a couple of downsides with these motors:
1. They produce a little more noise than direct drive hubs.
2. The nylon planetary gears can wear over time (especially if you are a heavier rider, or you carry heavy cargo).
Generally the Bafang hub motor is incredibly reliable, but if you do have any issues with the planetary gears, replacement parts are cheap, readily available and fairly easy to replace for a DIY enthusiast.
